Top Apk For Andriod

. GOOGLE TRANSLATE

We've seen a few clever translation apps in our time, but recently Google Translate has crushed them all. It now offers (sometimes clunky, word-for-word) translations of over 70 languages with input via text, handwritten words or symbols, spoken words or even text recognition via the camera. It can then give you the translation in the form of text or speak it for you.
The core app can do all this with a data connection, and language packs can be downloaded for free so you can use it abroad without the need for Wi-Fi or the fear of roaming data charges.
Download Google Translate

2. NASA App

This isn't the best looking app in the world, but it's full of geek-level info and media from the NASA archive, along with news and updates on what's going on up there and back at base. Maybe one day they'll get a slick front end for it all, but for now this raggle-taggle collection of links, pictures, videos and news feeds has plenty to keep space cadets informed and entertained.

3. TWICKETS

Twickets is a way to buy or sell spare tickets to gigs or events, but what makes it special is the rule that tickets can only change hands for their face value or less. That means the profiteering touts stay away and genuine fans get to recyle spares in good faith - great if one of your mates has dropped out and left you in the lurch, or you need an extra seat at short notice.
You can browse what's available or offer tickets via the app and finalise the deal via Twitter (hence the name).

4. Audible for Android

Long journey? Tired eyes? Audio books! A bit like radio shows that you actually want to listen to, a bit like podcasts before all the funny people stopped doing them, a bit like books being read to you (OK, mostly the latter), audio books are a treat to be savoured.
Amazon's Audible app is a gateway to its own audio book service, drawing you in with free tasters of some of its best sellers. It's worth downloading even if it's only for those free nibbles.

5. Navfree

You've got Google Maps already and that's lovely. However, that relies on a data connection, which isn't always available even in your home nation and will sting you with ludicrous charges abroad. Navfree is based on an open-source map database and provides mapping and voice-guided sat-nav for no cash at all.
You can load it with paid extras if you like, but it's fine as it is. Download the local variant for any country you're visiting before you leave and you'll always have a map and a sat-nav tool at your hip.

Android Cannot Scan a Wi-Fi Network

Reason
There may be two reasons as to why your Android cannot scan a network automatically. The first reason may be that the network you are trying to connect to could be Ad-Hoc in nature. As most of the Android phones are not configured to work on Ad-Hoc networks but on access points, they don’t scan them.
The second reason may be that the Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect to might be hidden for security reasons.
Solution
By default, Android does not support Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi network but many developers patch the wpa_supplicant file on Android in order for them to work. If you do a quick Google search you will be able to find if there’s a fix available for your device but the fix can only be performed on a rooted phone. Furthermore, don’t forget to back up your original wpa_supplicant file if at all your phones goes into foreclose or boot loops.
ad network manually
If the problem is with the hidden network, you can try to add the network manually. In Android Wi-Fi settings open menu and tap to add a network manually. You must enter the correct SSID and authentication type and password in order to connect to the network. If both the credentials are correct, the Android phone will be able to connect to the network.

Wi-Fi Keeps Disconnecting Frequently

Reason
The most obvious reason for the problem may be with the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy which disconnects your Wi-Fi every time your Android goes to sleep to save your battery’s juice.
Solution
To manage Wi-Fi Sleep Policy, open Advance Wi-Fi settings on Android and tap the option Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep. Here, check the option Always  to enjoy an uninterrupted connectivity, but you will have to compensate it with your battery life.

10 Common iOS 8.4 Problems & How to Fix Them

Apple confirmed the iOS 8.4 release all the way back in April with a release into its well known beta program. Weeks later, the company release iOS 8.4 to the public for the first time in the form of a beta update for users in the open Beta Software Update program.
Earlier this week, weeks after WWDC and just hours after a release date announcement, Apple took iOS 8.4 out of beta and released it to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users around the world. iOS 8.4 and its upgrades are now available to anyone using a device capable of running iOS 8.4.

The iOS 8.4 update brings a lot to the table. While the update’s focus is the new Apple Music platform, it also brings changes to iBooks and some bug fixes for annoying iOS 8 problems. According to some iPhone and iPad users, it also brings trouble along with it.
iOS 8.4 problems have been surfacing since Tuesday and we’ve seen many iPhone and iPad users complain about problems with Apple’s latest update. Today, we want to take a look at the most common iOS 8.4 problems that have and will pop up for iOS 8.4 users.
Apple still hasn’t confirmed an iOS 8.4.1 update and an iOS 9 update won’t be coming until the fall. This means that those dealing with iOS 8.4 problems will need to rely on third-party fixes. Here, we outline some fixes that have worked for us in the past. Try these out if you happen to run into an iOS 8.4 issue on your device.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Installation Problems

Many of the initial complaints about iOS 8.4 have been out installation problems. These are extremely common in the hours and days after an update’s release as people move from an older version iOS or from beta software. Some iPhone and iPad users say that the iOS 8.4 download process has stopped abruptly on their device. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to get the iOS 8.4 download process unstuck.
To jumpstart the iOS 8.4 installation process, you’ll want to hold down the power button and home button for 10 seconds until the device restarts. Once the device reboots, you’ll want to try and download/install the iOS 8.4 update again.
If you are moving from the public iOS 8.4 beta and your iOS 8.4 download keeps getting stuck, you’ll want to head here to learn how to fix it. The process is very similar to the one for regular users though there are a few other steps that you’ll have to take in order to complete the process.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Battery Life Problems

In the days since the iOS 8.4 release, we’ve been hearing a number of complaints about bad iOS 8.4 battery life. And while some of those complaints are coming from Apple Music users, others are coming from iPhone and iPad users who have simply seen an unexplainable drop in overall charge.
iOS battery life problems tend to dissipate after a few days as the software settles down but if they don’t, there are some things you can try.
iPhone-6s-2
Through the years, we’ve come up with some very specific fixes and tips that have helped us and many others get a grip on their battery life. Our extensive list of fixes is a great place to start if you’ve run into strange battery life problems after installing the iOS 8.4 update.
Just remember. iOS battery life problems can emerge at any time so it’s probably worth committing these fixes to memory so that you’re prepared for the future.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 iCloud Music Library Problems

Apple Music users have been running into all sorts of problems after the iOS 8.4 update’s arrival but one of the most common is an iCloud Music Library Can’t be Enabled error.
If you start using Apple Music on your device and you run into this error, know that there is an easy fix. You simply need to enable iCloud Music Library in order to use Apple’s new music platform. Here is how to get rid of this pop up if you encounter it after trying to use Apple Music:
  1. First head into your Settings on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Next, tap on the Music app .
  3. After that, flip iCloud Music Library to On.
  4. Now, choose to Merge or Replace your music library. Both work.
  5. You should be good. If it doesn’t work, try a few more times. It should work eventually.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Wi-Fi Problems

Wi-Fi problems are among the most common smartphone afflictions so it’s not surprising to hear and see complaints about iOS 8.4 Wi-Fi problems in the days after its release.
iOS Wi-Fi problems can be difficult to fix though there are some proven remedies that you’ll want to try if you run into poor connectivity with the iOS 8.4 update.
iPhone-6s-3
The first thing that we recommend is resetting your Network Settings. To do this, Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will take a few minutes and it will forget all of your connections so you’ll want to have all of your passwords handy before doing it.
If you don’t want to do that, you can forget each Wi-Fi connection individually. To do that, simply go into Settings > Wi-Fi > Select your connection > Tap Forget this Network at the top of the screen. Then, try reconnecting to see if that kickstarts the connection.
If those quick fixes don’t work, you should try rebooting your router and your modem. Unplug them for a good minute and then plug them back in to see if that alleviates the problems. You might also want to look into updating your router’s firmware. The instructions can probably be found online.
For a few other potential fixes for iOS 8.4 Wi-Fi problems, you can head here.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Cellular Data Problems

Cellular data issue are also extremely common after iOS updates. We’ve seen a few complaints about cellular data in the iOS 8.4 update’s aftermath. Cellular data issues are also extremely hard to fix manually but we’ll outline some fixes that have helped us fix problems in the past.
If you’re sure that the cellular data issues affecting your services (iCloud, Siri, etc) aren’t related to a carrier outage or issue, you’ll first want to restart your iPhone or iPad. Hold down the power button, shut it down, and then reboot to see if that dislodges the problem.
iPhone 6s-5
If a simple restart doesn’t work, the next thing to try is toggling Cellular Data off and then back on again. To do that Cellular > Cellular Data > Toggle Off. Toggle it back on to see if that gets things moving again.
If that doesn’t work, try flipping Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds and then turning it off. Airplane Mode will kill all of your connections.
And finally, if you’re not getting a good LTE connection, try shutting down LTE for a few minutes and then turning it back on. To do that, go in Settings > Cellular > Enable LTE > Off. Once you turn it off, you’ll rely on your carrier’s backup network. Wait a little bit and then flip LTE back on to see if service is restored.
If nothing works, contact your carrier.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Bluetooth Problems

Bluetooth problems always pop up after iOS updates and we’re already seeing users complain about a variety of iOS 8.4 Bluetooth problems.
Fixes for Bluetooth problems are similar to the fixes for Wi-Fi problems. First, you’ll want to try resetting your Network Settings. Again, that’s Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will forget your Bluetooth devices and you’ll need to reconnect.
iPhone 6 Worth It 2015 - 2
If you don’t want to forget everything, you can go into each connection individually and forget the connection. Settings > Bluetooth > Select your connection using the circular blue i tab > Tap Forget this Device.
You can also try resetting all of your settings. This has worked for some iPhone and iPad users in the past. To do that, Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will take a little time to complete so make sure you set aside some time for the process to complete.
If you’re dealing with Bluetooth problems in the car, you’ll need to consult your car’s manual because you’ll want to reset the Bluetooth connection in there. Once you’re able to do that, try pairing the device with the car again. In some cases, this has worked to dislodge problems.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 App Problems

We haven’t run into any major app problems after installing iOS 8.4 though we’ve seen complaints about app performance in the hours since the update’s Tuesday release. App hiccups are common after iOS updates.
To try and fix issues with your app, you’ll first want to install the latest bug fixes assuming the update isn’t the one causing the problems in the first place.
If the latest bug fixes don’t work, you can try reinstalling the application on your device. This has worked for us in the past. Simply delete the app and then install it again via the App Store. If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to report the issues to the developer so that it can fix the problem in a future update.

How to Improve iOS 8.4 Performance

If you are noticing lag or UI problems like some iOS 8.4 users are, you’ll want to consult our list of potential fixes for iOS performance problems.
When iOS 8 first came out, we outlined a number of different strategies including reducing animations and pretty effects, resetting settings, or restoring back to factory settings. All of these things still apply nearly a year after the update’s release on iPhone and iPad.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Messages Problems

We’re already seeing complaints about Messages after the iOS 8.4 update. Not surprising because we always see Messages problems after major iOS updates.
If Messages starts acting up, you’ll first want to toggle it off then on again. To do that, go into Settings > Messages > Toggle iMessage off then back on again. That’s helped iron out our issues in the past.
iPhone5s-1
If that doesn’t work, you can try rebooting your device. If that doesn’t work, it’s now time to head into your device’s network settings for a quick reboot.
To accomplish that, head into Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Again, the device will reboot and forget your network connections so make sure you have that information handy.

How to Fix iOS 8.4 Problems If Nothing Else Works

If nothing here works, there are a few more options. First, you can downgrade back to iOS 8.3. You can’t downgrade back to anything older than that and the iOS 8.3 downgrade will probably be open for another week or so.
You can also perform a factory reset and restore from a backup. This will wipe everything on your phone or tablet and return it back to the way it was when you first bought it.
To perform a full on factory reset, Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This is a proven fix for many iOS problems but it’s time consuming so only use it as a last resort.
If you can’t figure it out yourself, you can take your device into an Apple Store. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar and see if they can’t diagnose your problem. Who knows, maybe it’s a bloated battery causing your battery life problems, not iOS 8.4.
10 Important iOS 9 Release Details

Apple Music Coming to iOS 9 Beta

1 / 10
Apple Music Coming to iOS 9 Beta
As it stands, Apple's iOS 9 beta does not support the company's brand new Apple Music platform. That will change very soon as the company's Eddy Cue has confirmed that an upcoming iOS 9 beta release will bring Apple Music support to testers.
Cue says that Apple will seed a brand new iOS 9 beta 3 next week. He did not confirm a specific release date for the new iOS 9 beta only saying that the update would be coming sometime "early next week." Apple is well-known for releasing new updates on Monday so it's possible that we'll see it emerge after the holiday weekend.
Apple Music is the company's brand new platform and it's available to anyone capable of upgrading to iOS 8.4. iPhone and iPad users with a valid Apple ID can take part in a free three month trial of the service before a paid subscription is required.

Wi-fi connection problems are relatively common issues

Wi-fi connection problems are relatively common issues on these forums. If you're experiencing difficulties, try some of the following:

1. On your device, go to System Settings/Wireless & Networks/Wi-Fi, select the Wi-Fi network that you’re trying to connect to, and tap “Forget.” Then reconnect by selecting that network again and entering whatever password that may be needed.

[GUIDE] Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Problems-screenshot_2013-10-25-15-28-56.jpg

If the network to which you’re trying to connect has a common or generic SSID (like “HHonors” at Hilton hotels, or “linksys," which is usually the default SSID for Linksys routers), then your device might be trying to use previously stored credentials from a past connection that won’t work for this new connection. So, for example, suppose you visited a Hilton last year and used their “HHonors” wi-fi. Your device remembers this connection unless you tell the device to forget it. If you go to a different Hilton now, the SSID for their wi-fi will still be “HHonors,” but the credentials that are saved on your device may not work. You need to forget your old “HHonors” network, then select the current “HHonors” network and log in again.

This is why it’s a good idea to change the SSID of your own home wi-fi network to something unique, to reduce confusion for your device.

2. Reboot your router. Unplug its power, wait about 10 seconds, then plug it back in again. Wait another 10-20 seconds for the connection to reestablish.
If you’re not getting an internet connection on any device or computer in the house and the router reboot doesn’t work, also try rebooting your cable/DSL modem.

Modems often have a battery backup, so simply unplugging them won’t force a reboot. There’s usually a reboot/reset pinhole button on the back.

3. See if the router’s security is interfering. Go to the router’s settings screen (you’ll need to check the user’s manual for your particular router to learn how to do this). Find the options for security, and turn it off temporarily. If you can connect, then you know that security is the main problem.

Obviously, it’s not ideal to leave your home network unprotected, so you’ll need to reactivate security, but this time, try a different protocol. If you were using WEP before (an older security protocol, which you should avoid these days), change it to WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK. If you were using WPA or WPA2 already, try changing the encryption mode from TKIP to AES or vice-versa.

Remember, don't leave your router's security off! Keep your home wi-fi network protected.

4. Turn off QoS in your router's settings. QoS stands for Quality of Service, and will try to prioritize certain connections over others (primarily useful if you have a TV with streaming video, or a game console that requires a very high speed connection). If your device isn't prioritized, its connection will suffer.

5. USB 3.0 connections can interfere with reception of the 2.4 GHz wi-fi band, if the port isn’t properly shielded (see this article:
Wireless Witch: The Truth About USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi Interference | Samara Lynn | PCMag.com).

6. For public wi-fi hotspots, remember that many require you to log in or accept terms and conditions on a welcome page before you can fully access the web. Until you do so, you may still see that a wi-fi connection is active on your Notification bar, but you won’t be able to access anything on the web. Open your browser and go to any URL--if it takes you to a welcome page instead, log in or accept the terms and conditions. If you turn off wi-fi later, and then turn it on again, you may have to go through the same process.

7. If you have a dual-band router (i.e., 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), see if you can set your device to use only the 2.4 GHz band. Sometimes the Auto settings will cause problems. Go to System Settings/Wireless & Network/Wi-Fi, tap the Menu button again, and select Advanced/Wi-Fi Frequency Band.

[GUIDE] Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Problems-2013-10-24.jpg

Then select "2.4 GHz Only" instead of "Auto":

[GUIDE] Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Problems-2013-10-24-2-.jpg

8. In item #6 above, you can see an option for "Avoid Poor Connections." If you check this, then your device won't struggle to maintain a connection to a weak wi-fi network. However, this may also prevent your device from connecting to a network that it otherwise could use. Uncheck this option if the network to which you're trying to connect shows only 1 bar or so.

9. Make sure your date and time are correct. Check the Settings>Date & Time menu, and make sure "Automatic Date & Time" and "Automatic Time Zone" (if available) are checked. If there is a discrepancy between your device's date and time and that of the router, the connection may not work.

10. Turn off Wi-Fi Optimization. You can see the option in the screenshot above. This option is for battery saving, not for improving wi-fi performance. Turning optimization on will actually make the wi-fi radio activity more intermittent (in an attempt to save battery), and therefore might hinder the performance of some apps that require a more constant connection.

10 Common Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Problems & How to Fix Them

The Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 update is rolling out to the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5. It’s also expected to hit the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the future. While it comes with tons of fixes for Lollipop problems, Galaxy users say that it brings some problems of its own. With that in mind, we take a look at some common Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems and offer some potential solutions to users.
In November, Google rolled out its Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Since then, the company’s rolled out several bug fix updates aimed at alleviating some of the problems that have plagued Nexus devices and various other Android phones and tablets since Lollipop’s arrival.
Google’s latest Lollipop update is Android 5.1.1, a bug fix update that addresses lingering Lollipop problems and tackles some problems that Android 5.1 brought to Android. It’s widely available for Nexus devices and it’s just now moving to non-Nexus phones including Samsung’s Galaxy series.

In the past few weeks, Samsung’s pushed out Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5 Android 5.1.1 updates in the United States. It’s also rumored to have a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update up its sleeve for June.
Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 updates come with a series of fixes and enhancements that are aimed at stabilizing these flagships and curing them of their Lollipop ailments. And while we’ve heard good things about the upgrades, we’ve also begun to hear complaints about Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems.
With that in mind, we want to take a look at some of these initial Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems and offer some potential fixes for Galaxy users.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Installation Problems

One of the first Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems that we’re hearing about has to do with the update’s install process. Some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 users are saying that they’re unable to install the update on their device. Fortunately, this is a common problem, one that always pops up after new Galaxy Android updates.
Galaxy-S5-Review-4

One method that’s worked for us in the past is a quick cache partition clearance. It’s a bit tedious but it’s gotten several of our past Galaxy Android updates unstuck. We’ve put together a guide that will show you how to quickly and efficiently clear the cache partition on the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6. The steps are similar.
To clear the cache partition on the Galaxy S5:
  • Turn the Galaxy S5 off.
  • Press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the device vibrates.
  • When the Samsung logo appears, release them.
  • Tap Volume Down repeatedly until you Wipe Cache Partition. Select it with the power button. Select Yes.
  • Wait for the process to complete. It could take awhile.
  • Reboot your Galaxy S5.
To clear the cache partition on the Galaxy S6:
  • Turn the Galaxy S6 off.
  • Reboot your Galaxy S6.
If that doesn’t work, we recommend letting your Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge or Galaxy S5 drain all the way down to 0% battery and die. Recharge the phone to 100% battery and then try installing the update again. This has also worked to get updates unstuck.
If neither of those methods work, head down to the bottom of this page to learn about the factory reset option. Factory resets will often jumpstart the installation process though the process is slow and it will require you to backup your important files before starting.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Battery Life Problems

The Samsung Android 5.1.1 update is only a few weeks old in the United States and we’re already seeing complaints about abnormal battery drain. This isn’t too surprising given that battery drain is one of the more common problems smartphone users encounter after a major update. That said, it’s usually not the update itself causing the problems.
Galaxy-S5-Review-10-620x413
In response to these Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 battery drain complaints, we’ve put together a guide that will take you through some potential fixes and tips to help you recover battery life on your Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5. Sometimes, all it takes is a quick tweak to the software or your habits to fix these issues.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Wi-Fi Problems

Wi-Fi problems are extremely common and we’ve begun to hear and see complaints about poor Wi-Fi connectivity after the Android 5.1.1 update. Granted these complaints are isolated but as more people get the update, we expect complaints to pick up. They always do.
If you’re experiencing Wi-Fi problems on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S5, the first thing you should do is restart your phone. Hold down the power button, power it down, and then power it back on. This has worked for us and many others in the past and it might work for you.
If that doesn’t work, it’s time to turn your attention to your router. If you’re getting a bad signal, try restarting your router. Unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in to see if that helps. If it doesn’t, you should also consider unplugging your modem and updating your routers firmware. The instructions for firmware updates will vary based on router make and model.
Galaxy-S6
Should none of these work, it’s time to head into your settings. The first thing you’ll want to do there is forget the problem Wi-Fi network. Before you do this, make sure you have the Wi-Fi password handy. You’ll need to enter it in after you forget the network connection.
On the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, this can be found in the Connections portion of Settings. Once there, select Wi-Fi. Tap on the desired network and select the Forget option. The process is similar on the Galaxy S5.
If that doesn’t fix your connection, you will want to head into Wi-Fi settings, tap More in the top right corner, and select the Advanced option. Ensure that Always allow scanning is turned on. You’ll also want to make sure that Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always.
You might also want to go into Power saving mode options to check if Wi-Fi restrictions are in place. If you use this feature, you might be limiting your Wi-Fi connectivity.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Bluetooth Problems

We haven’t heard about any widespread Bluetooth issues yet but we always see Galaxy users struggle with Bluetooth after Android updates so we’re going to be proactive and offer some fixes ahead of Samsung’s next big Android 5.1.1 push.
There are a few ways to fix Bluetooth problems. The first step is to toggle Bluetooth off and then back on to see if that jumpstarts the connection. You can do that in the Quick Settings menu on the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5. You can also do it in the main Bluetooth menu in the main Settings page.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to forget the Bluetooth connection that’s giving you trouble. On the Galaxy S6, go into Bluetooth, tap the connection and select Forget. You need only do this for the devices causing the problems. The process is the same for the Galaxy S5.

If you’re having trouble connecting to Bluetooth in your car, then you’re going to need to consult your car’s manual in order to reset the connection. Once you’ve done that and forgotten the connection on your phone, then you should try to reconnect and see if they’re able to pair.
If those fixes don’t work, you might want to try booting into Safe Mode to see if an app is causing Bluetooth problems. Safe Mode disables third-party apps and that will allow you to isolate troublemakers. It’s tedious but it’s worth a shot if your problems are persistent.
To boot into Safe Mode on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S5:
  1. Power down the device. Then, press & hold the power button and volume down key.
  2. Once it boots up, you can let go of the power button but keep the volume key held down.
  3. When you have successfully entered into Safe Mode, you will notice the text ‘Safe Mode’ at the bottom left corner of the screen.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lag

Samsung Galaxy S5 users in particular are complaining about lag after installing Android 5.1.1 on the device. Often times, these performance issues will dissipate a few hours or even a few days after an update’s arrival. If they don’t, you can try fixing them using a few different techniques.
The first thing we always recommend is clearing out the device’s cache partition. Instructions on how to do that can be found above under our fixes for installation problems. There are a few other remedies to try if that doesn’t work.
If you own a Galaxy S5, you can try limiting animations. In order to do this, you’ll want to hold down on a blank space on the screen, go to the Home Screen Settings then Transition effect and then select None. You can always enable transitions again if this doesn’t help.

We recommend halting your use use of live wallpapers as they can negatively impact performance on Galaxy devices. You can also try downloading a different launcher. The TouchWiz launcher is improved on the Galaxy S6 though you might notice some gains after installing a popular one like Nova Launcher.
If you own a Galaxy S6 and you are willing to go to great lengths to improve performance, you can play with the device’s animations. To do this, go into the About section of your Settings, it’s found under the System tab. Once there, tap the Build Number section seven times to get into the phone’s Developer mode. Warning, novice Galaxy S6 users should not attempt this.
Once your Developer options appear, there should be options for Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator animation scale. By default, these are set to 1x. Some Galaxy S6 users have said that changing them to .5x will enhance the phone’s performance. We haven’t tried this ourselves so you’ll want to be extremely careful.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Overheating Problems

Galaxy owners often complain about overheating problems after major Android updates. Android 5.1.1 is still young so we haven’t seen widespread complaints about this just yet but give it time. Someone, somewhere will notice that their phone is starting to get hot when it shouldn’t be.
If this happens to your Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, or another device, you’ll first want to try restarting your phone to see if that helps. You’ll want to leave it off for a minute or so and then reboot.
If this doesn’t work, boot the device into Safe Mode. The instructions on how to do that can be found above. Often times, an app will go rogue and start overworking your phone. Safe Mode will help you spot the rogue application.
Galaxy-S6-5
The Galaxy S6 doesn’t come with a microSD card slot so you can’t try this next step if you own one. If you own a Galaxy S5 though, it’s worth a shot.
Power down the phone but this time remove the battery and your microSD card from the microSD card slot. Pop the battery back in without the microSD card in and see if that helps cool down the phone.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 App Problems

We’re already hearing about misbehaving applications, something that doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that apps always act up after major Android updates. Most Android developers do a great job keeping their apps updated and stable but there are always a few that cause trouble.
If you run into app problems after installing Android 5.1.1 on your Galaxy phone, you’ll first want to try updating the application. Make sure you read the latest reviews before you do.
If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling the application. If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to report bugs to the developer so that it cane work on fixes. If your problem is enterprise related, you’ll want to talk to your IT department if you have one.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Charging Problems

Galaxy users often run into charging problems after Android updates and there’s a very good chance that some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 owners will see slow charging problems after installing Android 5.1.1. If you do, there are a few things to try in an attempt to fix them.
First, you need to make sure the device is charging on the charger that came with the phone. If you need to dig the charger up, dig it up. It could help. If the stock charger does nothing, try using a charger with the same voltage rating as the stock charger. That information can be found in a manual online.

If neither works, you can try using a USB cable instead of a wall charger. You should also try plugging your Galaxy into a computer to see if that helps.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 GPS Problems

GPS problems are also common after Android updates. If you run into GPS issues after installing Android 5.1.1, know that there are a few things to try to jumpstart the connection.
If you own a Galaxy S6, you’ll want to head into the device’s Settings. From there, scroll over to the Personal tab and select Privacy and safety. Then, tap Location and Location Method.
Once there, you can try using GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks to try and track your location. If that’s not accurate, try Wi-Fi and Mobile only. If that still fix the issue, try using GPS only. You can also try toggling Location On then Off then On from the previous screen to see if that jump starts the GPS connection on your Galaxy S6.
If you own an older Galaxy like the Galaxy S5, head into Settings, Location and then make sure the Mode is set to High Accuracy. If that doesn’t solve the issue, it’s time to boot the phone into Safe Mode to see if a third-party application is causing the problem.
Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users can also try Safe Mode to see if you can isolate a problem application.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Problems If Nothing Works

If nothing else works, you can look into the downgrade process and potentially move back to an older version of Lollipop or even Android 4.4 KitKat.
You can also try performing a factory reset on your phone though we only recommend this if you can’t find any fixes for your problem and it’s severely impacting the performance of your device. You’ll also want to make a backup of your important files before starting this process because it will wipe everything. Again, it’s a last resort.
To factory reset the Galaxy S5, go into Settings, User & Backup, and select Backup and Reset. From there, select Factory Data Reset. From there, select Reset Device and then Delete All.
How to fix Galaxy S6 Edge problems.
To factory reset a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, go into Settings then Personal then Backup and reset. From there, select Factory Data Reset. From there, select Reset Device.
One final reminder. Before you factory reset or return your phone, you’ll want to scour the internet for other potential fixes. Our fixes are a great starting point but they may not work for everyone. Make sure you dig around before you do something drastic after getting the Android 5.1.1 on board.

Android update battery problems: How to fix poor battery life following Android 5.0 Lollipop update

No longer exclusive to the Google Nexus line-up, Android 5.0 Lollipop is rolling out to 2014 flagships such as the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Unfortunately, many owners of those devices are now seeing issues with poor battery life. Here are some steps you can take to fix the problem.

No longer exclusive to the Google Nexus line-up, Android 5.0 Lollipop is rolling out to 2014 flagship phones such as the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Unfortunately, many owners of those devices are now seeing issues with poor battery life. Here are some steps you can take to fix the problem. Also see: When will my phone get Android Lollipop?

Poor battery life since Android update: Should I install Android Lollipop?

Well, so much for Lollipop improving battery life.
Before we begin we should point out that not everyone running Android Lollipop is dealing with battery drain - some are really quite happy with the new OS, particularly those with devices that run Lollipop out of the box. (Some are also dealing with Wi-Fi problems but, honestly, there are a lot of happy Lollipop users out there.)
You should also know that every new operating system comes with a few bugs that are gradually ironed out through updates as they become apparent. There is nothing inherently 'wrong' with Android Lollipop.
If an Android Lollipop update is available for your device then it's up to you whether you should install it. No-one is holding a gun to your head. If you go ahead there are many perks, as you'll learn from our Android Lollipop review, but you should be aware that there may also be a few bugs at first.

Poor battery life since Android update: Samsung Galaxy S5

I came across a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Vodafone network this weekend with such poor battery performance that it was down to 95 percent within seconds of unplugging it from the mains. The owner was carrying a spare battery with him at all times, and still he would run out of power by early evening. He also complained that his S5 was running so hot in his pocket that it was burning his leg.
If your battery performance is this bad it's quite possible that there is something wrong with it. But the phone was functioning fine until he downloaded the latest Android update, and he is far from alone in reporting battery life issues following the installation of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
On checking in the Battery settings what had been using his battery I found Android OS was greedier than anything else, including the display.
It's not an issue specific to the Samsung Galaxy S5, however, so we expect to hear from more users running into battery life problems as Lollipop continues its rollout.

Poor battery life since Android update: Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update

Many Nexus 5 owners who upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop at launch were also plagued with battery life issues, although we've seen fewer reports of problems with those phones running the later Android 5.0.1 update which is in essence a collection of bug fixes. Google has also said the problem is fixed in the latest builds. If you haven't received an OTA update to 5.0.1 the file is available from Google; you can then check our instructions on how to install Android Lollipop on the Nexus 5.
Unfortunately, this update won't yet be available to owners of Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG or other smartphones, which in the UK are delivered OTA by the network operator, slowing down the process. It could be two months before Samsung releases Android 5.0.1 for the Galaxy S5, for example. Even then, we can't guarantee it will solve battery life problems. However, you should double-check you are running the latest version of Android now.
So what can you do in the meantime?

Poor battery life since Android update: How to fix poor battery life

The first thing you should check is what is actually consuming the battery. Open your Settings menu and look for a Battery or Power option; within this you should find Battery usage. Here you'll see battery consumption broken down into the various apps and services running on your phone.
If there is a particular app that is consuming a lot of power - which can be the case with older third-party apps that haven't been optimised for newer OSes - kill it. If things don't improve following its uninstallation then you can always reinstall it.
Thanks to the tips below this article we know that many users are reporting excessive battery drain being caused by frequent Wi-Fi scanning. It's worth turning off your Wi-Fi when you aren't using it to see if this extends your battery life at all.
Going back to that Galaxy S5 I spoke of earlier, those who have called tech support have been told a factory reset may solve their problem. And in (some) cases it has improved things, but I sympathise with those for whom a factory reset is the last thing they want to do, losing all their personal settings and customisation options in the process. Be sure to back up anything on your phone before you take this step, if you choose to do so.

Poor battery life since Android update: That didn't work. What can I do to improve battery life?

If all that fails then your only option to solve the problem is to wait for a bug fix to roll out to your phone. But that doesn't help you out in the meantime if your phone is all but unusable. Here are some tips to extend your smartphone's battery life.
• Remember to restart your phone every so often. Sounds simple, but it could just be the fix you're looking for.
• Turn down the screen brightness and adjust the screen timeout. You'll find both options in the Settings menu.
• Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use. Look for toggles in the notification bar or find these options in the Settings menu.
• Close apps running in the background. You don't need to install a Task Manager or other app to achieve this, just tap the square button at the bottom of the display to bring up an 'Overview' or recent apps list. Running apps are shown as cards, and you can simply swipe them off the screen to close them.
• Turn off haptics. Your phone's ability to vibrate to warn you of a new call or notification is useful, but it has to use enough power to make your whole phone shake.
• Take advantage of power-saving modes. Some phones even have Ultra Power Saving modes that, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S5, can make 10 percent of the battery's capacity last 24 hours by turning off inessential features and screen colours.
• Carry a spare battery or, better yet, a power bank. Your spare battery offers a single charge for that specific handset, while you can buy a power bank that costs less and offers more charges - to any phone. Check out the Best power banks 2015.
